So, there's this K-pop star named Hanni who's been causing a bit of a stir in Vietnam lately. Apparently, some people are upset with her because she and her family are pro-South Vietnam, which some folks see as supporting the losing side in the Vietnam War.

Now, you might be thinking, "Wait, what does being pro-South Vietnam have to do with K-pop?" And that's a good question. The thing is, Hanni is actually Vietnamese-Australian, and she's been using her platform as a K-pop star to talk about her family's experiences during the war.

Some people have accused Hanni of being insensitive or even disrespectful to those who fought on the side of North Vietnam, which is the side that ultimately won the war. Others have defended her, saying that she has a right to express her views and that it's important to remember all sides of the conflict.

It's an interesting situation, because it highlights some of the ongoing tensions in among Vietnamese around the legacy of the war. Even though the conflict ended nearly 50 years ago, it's still a very sensitive topic for many people, and there are deep divisions around issues like politics, culture, and identity.

Overall, it seems like Hanni's case is just one example of the many ways that Vietnam is still coming to terms with its past and trying to find a way forward. Whether or not you agree with her views, it's clear that her story has touched a nerve and sparked a lot of conversation and debate.

I think it is fair to say she has the right to express herself. I don't fully understand everything that happened back then, it was before my time but I can understand why some people are upset about it too.

War is a serious thing and for people that lived through it, they know all to well what it is like and to see younger people voicing opinions like this? It can be downright insulting.

Hanni is not Vietnamese-American. Hanni is a Vietnamese K-pop Idol who was either born in Hue, Vietnam then moved to Melbourne, Australia when she was 4 years old or she was born in Melbourne, Australia depending on the source.

Hanni has never talked about her platform as a K-pop star to talk about her family's experience during a war.

There are only some members of the family of Hanni who have expressed that they sided with the Republic of Vietnam on Facebook.

Hanni has never expressed that she sides with a political camp.

@rockman my mistake! I wrote Australian in the title but in the post I wrote American. I'll see if an admin can fix it for me. She was born well past the war so the hate she is receiving is not justified at all.

How can someone expect her to feel one way or the other when she did not experience it? We see this in all nations that have not seen war in their lifetimes.
