Is it hard to build a computer?

I want to get a new desktop and I was comparing what I can get for my budget and it seems like I can get WAY more for my money if I were to buy the parts and build one myself. I have never done it before though. Is it something that is considered to be hard to do?

Yes, and no. It can be very hard or it can be moderately easy. If you know what brands and parts go with what, that is the hard part. Once you understand that it is just a matter of connecting everything and putting it in a case.

I think it is pretty simple these days. You can get recommended builds online where they tell you what to buy so you know things are compatible. I would use one of those sites if you decide to build.

I built my first one a few years ago and only messed up one minor thing.

The thing is though, with prices going up, you might not be saving as much anymore.

I have no idea!

I never built a computer. The one I have now was built by a friend and he seems to think it is easy but he has been doing this since he was 14 years old. I would not know where to start and would likely make a mistake.

There are cheaper better options now, I should have mentioned before. Mini computers are a new trend that are just as good as big towers, if not better. You could probably get away with buying one of those over building and get a lot for your money.

Putting parts together is the easy part. What separates the men from the boys is figuring out what's gone wrong when something goes wrong.

Money is the hardest part.

NO, but the hardest part is fitting all the cables in nicely so it looks pretty.

Hardest part was setting up windows and everything else afterwards, took me like 20 minutes to build the thing.
