I am not looking to go viral but I am curious how people become more popular online and develop little followings. I think it would be really cool to have one as an artist but I can't seem to get people to see my stuff and stay interested in it.

Interactions with people help. I mean what platforms are you trying to get more popular on? Twitter? TikTok? Instagram?
Since you are an artist, I would say Instagram is probably your best bet. Make sure to make use of hashtags and interact with people.

It depends on the platform.
I can give you some ideas. I had a few accounts with decent followings for awhile. You just have to be able to market yourself.

Just socialize. Find something that works for you.
You are an artist and you will eventually find your following. it can take time though. Millions of people are on social platforms daily.

As mentioned, you need to socialize. You can post your stuff and use hashtags but you need to get involved in the art communities online.

Maybe try to collaborate with others. If you know someone famous enough that can help you have that exposure maybe that might somehow work for you.

If you can, set up a fresh Twitter account and focus on your artwork and interact with other artists. Comment on their work, like it, retweet it, and make connections. Eventually, people will start doing the same for yours.

Humor is a good way to do it. I know it seems silly but being able to make people laugh goes a long way! I know when I started sharing more memes online, I started having more followers!
