I don't know about you, but after reading this article, I'm ready to pack my bags and head to Vietnam ASAP! Who needs a fancy resort when you can stay in a bamboo hut or take a boat ride on the Mekong Delta? Sign me up for some pho and banh mi, too.

Vietnamese people truly are kind and very open to strangers. I have never met such kind people anywhere else I have been. I like to make a comparison to Japanese people. Vietnamese people are a lot like Japanese people but more social. So you get the respect and friendliness with more human connection.

I always default to the same three reasons myself:

  • It is VERY affordable in terms of going on vacation to another country.
  • The food is amazing and you will not experience this sort of food anywhere else in the world.
  • The culture is family forward, respectful, and the people of this beautiful nation are friendly.

Anytime someone mentioned wanting to travel and not being able to afford it, I always bring this up. I am not a rich person and I have managed to go to Vietnam 5 times in the last 10 years.

I've never been to Vietnam, but after reading this article I'm definitely interested in learning more. I had no idea there were so many beautiful natural wonders and cultural experiences to be had. Do you have any recommendations for specific places to visit or things to do for someone who's never been to Vietnam before?

@compasstraveler Vietnam is a country full of diverse experiences, but I highly recommend visiting Hoi An for its charming old town and delicious food.

My first visit was sort of a last minute thing. It was not a long stay either. What stood out to me right away was the quality of food. I felt like I was eating way more but I did not gain weight, I actually lost weight! It made me wonder what they were putting in the food back home.

If I had to list reasons myself, the first 5 would be about the food. I am not even joking. I have had all sorts of Asian foods from around the world but the stuff in Vietnam is just different. It awakens my taste buds like nothing else.
