Nghe An must be underrated for sure as this is the first time I am actually reading about it. I know I have heard of the area but never as a travel destination. I am going to have to look into this place more. Thanks for writing about it!

This is a wonderful place. I can't say I have stayed here or visited but I have family who have and they love it. I should really plan a trip here instead of going to places I already know I love. Try something new!
I have distant relatives who lived here for several years. They moved to be closer to the city 10 years ago for an easier life. I think this place is beautiful and I am happy more people are learning about it.Â
I think Nghe An is underrated because of the weather and insects. A lot of people just can;'t tolerate the mosquitoes and don't like going to areas like this because of them.Â
@boo_chan I heard some people mention this. I think this seems to be the case where there are larger pockets of water. I never had issues myself but I tend not to get attacked by them.

I had the pleasure of visiting Nghe An on my last trip to Vietnam and I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the region. I've been to Nghe An and it's definitely not as beautiful as it's made out to be. The people are friendly, but the infrastructure is lacking and the poverty is quite evident. It's a shame that such a beautiful place is so overlooked. I would recommend visiting Nghe An if you're looking for a unique experience, but don't expect too much.
