When heading to Vietnam, what kind of vehicle should I rent to get around? I was thinking of a motorcycle, or a scooter. Or, could I get a car instead? What would you guys recommend for making it easier to get around?

Are the roads narrow or wide in Vietnam? If they are narrow I would suggest to get a small car or a scooter to make it a bit easier to navigate and I hear it's really busy traffic.

@spikey , talking about the northern Vietnam roads are rough and the traffic is chaotic. The vehicle which you select should depend upon your preference. I'd suggest a 4WD car.

Best way for foreigners to travel around is by renting a motorbike but the traffic is crazy in VN. You can rent a motorbike for 30 days for $50 (decent condition). Up to $300 a month for a good motorbike.

But it's already cheap to use a ride-hailing app like Grab, Go-Viet or FastGo.

@bananamilk That's a pretty good price for a motorbike! I would probably just take a taxi or a bus as I wouldn't have to worry about the crazy traffic.

Well if you carry an international driving license and an experience at driving in chaotic and extremely busy traffic , then you should opt for renting a car. You can rent a 4WD for the rough roads.
