I'm hopeful I can travel to Vietnam by the start of 2021, or early 2021. My first destination will be Hanoi, and then I will travel out through other cities and locations. What other cities should I see before my vacation inevitably ends?
Da Nang since there are many places and things to do there (Bana hills, Golden bridge, beaches, etc). Most foreigners like to go there for the beach and the romantic ancient town nearby called Hội An.
Vietnam has pretty hot climate so Đà Lạt is also a good change if you want cooler weather with beautiful scenery.
Hanoi is probably the most popular city to visit as its the capital city there. If I went, I would probably visit the smaller towns away from the tourism and see the real Vietnam.
For me, Da Lat is my favorite city. The city is on the highland with the lovely weather, lovely landscape and the food is amazing.
