Does Vietnam face any issues with gambling addiction?

I know it is a problem in the US and the UK, as well as in other parts of Europe. I am not sure about Canada or Astralia. I am curious as I know Vietnam does have some fairly large casinos. It just doesn't seem to be as big of a deal but I could be wrong.

Those casinos are for tourists only. Gambling in general outside of state-run lotteries is completely banned in Vietnam. That being said, people still do gamble and face silent addictions because they can't seek help for committing the crime without facing fines and prison time.

@lofire I heard about this. That a lot of people will gamble and get hooked on illegal street gambling and then owe bookers money and not be able to do anything about it if they get assaulted or threatened.

Yeah, it is not legal there for the most part. I always forget they even have casinos but they are only for tourist attractions. Sadly, people still bet and gamble and get into trouble though.

Silent addiction is the worst kind. As mentioned, people do struggle but there are no help centers or groups to turn to because the government is very much against gambling.

@canabee11My thoughts exactly. It is terrible. I wish they would at least do something to help these people but I understand that would then allow them to admit they are criminals and they would risk being fined or facing time in prison.
