Is R&B / Hip-Hop more popular around the world compared to standard V-pop?

I noticed more and more rappers and r&b style ladies blowing up and it seems like fans who are outside of Vietnam tend to gravitate toward it more than pop. Do you think that it is more popular and should be more focused on moving forward to expand the industry to other countries?

I think that is the case with rap and hip-hop in general. I am not sure why but every culture has it and you can compare the US's rap to that of Hispanic rap. The big names made it big in the US as well but very few in other genres did.

I think if they did focus on it more, it would bring more people into Vietnamese music for sure. I am not even a huge rape fan and enjoy v-rap.

It tends to be more appealing to younger generations which increases the odds of it going viral so I would say yes, it is more popular overall.

It seems like a lot of people just gravitate toward music they can drive around with and dance to which tends to be rap and hip-hop style music. So I would guess this is the case but there is still a huge following for v-pop in Vietnam.

Pop seems like it was more popular in the '90s and early '00s, at least in the west. Now hip hop and rap have taken over and tend to be the most popular for younger generations.

It is in some areas and for certain people. I still think there is a lot of love for pop music around the world.

Yes, I think so. I know this for me. I got into Vietnamese music because of their urban artists. I do enjoy some of the pop, don't get me wrong but if it were not for the rap and hip-hop, I may have never gotten into it.

Popular music today seems to trend toward hip-hop and club music. I think overall, that is the largest genre today. I personally don't care for it all that much but the catchy beats make it appealing to the younger generations.
