Since the pandemic has pretty much brought on the idea of wearing masks more, even to the point where it's becoming a law or requirement to wear one in public. Do you think we'll be forced to wear masks forever now? Or will we ever go back to normal?
No, once the vaccine is out, I think they will ease the requirement/law. But then I think by that time, there will be a different requirement. The vaccine requirement to travel abroad, go to school, work, etc. Infants that reach a certain age will have to get the shot.
@bananamilk I don't know. I think people are going to make the decision to wear a mask more often. I think it's fine if anyone wants to. I know I'll be wearing my mask for life, as I don't want to risk it. Who knows, we could suffer another pandemic one of these days. Either way, I think some places may require it, even after the vaccine comes out.
@nick Wearing a mask is to protect others moreso than protecting yourself unless you're wearing an N95 mask. If you're the only one wearing a mask but everyone around you isn't, you can still get sick from them.
I think eventually restrictions will lower and we'll be able to go out without masks, but I suspect that won't happen until later in 2021 or even after 2021. This pandemic is going to last a long while for the US if this keeps up.
I am highly doubtful it'll be forever, but I can see people wearing masks for years to come, even after masks are no longer required. It's why I think many companies have gone in on making & selling masks. It's becoming a fashionable thing.
And hey, if it protects people, I'm cool with wearing them more often.
Governments aren't going to require you to wear masks forever. That's implausible and people would protest against it. I think masks might become mainstream after the pandemic in countries where it previously not mainstream. People are probably going to wear masks more post-pandemic than pre-pandemic for fashion and whenever they're sick.
@midu I agree, but I have a feeling people are going to continue wearing masks even after it's said it's not needed anymore. I think places like Japan and China had it right, where they wear masks outside pretty much all the time. I am probably going to do that if I'm around a ton of people. You never know what could happen.
