Most people these days are talking about overpopulation being a problem but Musk has pointed out that birth rates around the world are dropping and how this can cause a collapse for many societies. He feels people need to be having more children. Is this something you agree with?
I don't think you can force people to have babies. I mean, it's not like Musk is going to start paying people to do it. If you want more babies, you need to be able to make that decision on your own, and not because someone tells you to.
It's easier said than done. Raising a baby costs a lot of money. And I believe he wants us to have more babies so we can compete with China, manufacture more at things domestically. It's all about capitalism to Elon.
People choose to have less babies when the economy is not going well.
I think a lot of young adults today just feel they can't afford to have children as many can't even afford to buy a home. I think people will start having children again when places like the US have a more stable economy without such debt!
I am not sure how having fewer babies would cause an issue. I guess maybe once the younger generation ages up, there could be a shortage of workers? We have that now in many areas of the world.
@tbh23I think the world population will get older and live longer and more younger people will choose not to have kids in such a terrible economy. Only those who can afford to have kids will have them.
Most of my friends who are in their late 20s and early 30s aren't even thinking about kids. They can't afford them. They don't want to be scraping by and giving them less than what their parents gave them. Regardless of overpopulation, most young adults just can't afford kids!
I am not sure he knows what he is talking about. Plenty of places are still having plenty of children. It becomes a problem when people who can't afford or have means to care for children keep having them.
Elon is rich enough to say this and do it. Most people struggle these days just to raise one child. Since we seem to be in a place where two incomes are needed, it makes it even harder. I know a lot of younger people around my age who are not going to have kids at all.
Yeah I agree with most of you. I think it is easy to say this kind of stuff when you have more than enough to support your children. I feel like the world isn't overpopulated so much as it is populated by too many people that offer nothing to the world. In that I mean special skills, labor, etc. and we have too many people who just live off government funding.
