Is there a way to wrap gifts/items cheaply and cleanly?

I don't like buying gift wrap, tissue, or bags because I feel it is so wasteful. I am trying to figure out a  way to reuse/re-purpose or replace things when it comes to gift giving. Anyone know of a way around this?

You can do what my sister does and buy cheap reusable totes. You can get them from super markets in most cases. They are usually the same cost as a gift bag. She saves packing paper she gets from her packages to use as tissue paper and to wrap items in the bags. A bit late for that now but you can buy a pretty big roll of standard brown craft paper and use that. Or you can find a cheap dollar store of sorts and buy towels. People can reuse those as cleaning rags and such.

I have seen people use cheap throw blankets instead of wrapping paper. For smaller items, use bandannas and the like. I tend to just reuse paper bags from the grocery store. My youngest sister who is 12 decorates them for me.

Just get gift bags and reuse them. I never understood people throwing those out. I always keep the ones I was gifted to by other people and use them again. Tissue paper is pretty cheap at craft stores.

I am not very creative when it comes to finding solutions like this. I have done away with wrapping paper over the years. As mentioned, gift bags can be reused over and over again so you save waste there. I have not found an alternative for tissue though.

Any idea I would have mentioned has already been said.

If I can think of something else, I will come back. I think the best idea is just to make use of what you already have be it paper bags, old newspaper or magazines, things like that.

I actually started doing this a few years ago because I can use them for shopping and just carrying things. I got most of my family using them now in place of gift bags because they last WAY longer and function as something useful when not holding a gift.
