So there was a software update that allows iPhone 14's the ability to send and receive messages via satellite when no service is available. This is huge for people who travel a lot. I am not sure if anyone else heard about this or not. I am upgrading my phone this month just for this reason.

Interesting. I remember when this tech was not the best. I think planes used this which is why they never had good internet service. That has changed a lot in the last 10 years or so.

@photastic I actually noticed a difference just a few years ago as I had not been on a plane prior to that since 2010. So yeah, it most certainly has gotten way better.

I never liked iPhones but I may consider switching for this. I wonder if the Galaxy will get this as well? I mean that is the flagship I have been with for a good 6 years now.

I heard about this but I already moved away from iPhones and don't really care to go back. I would just get one of those $200 devices that allow connection via satellite.

@pinkcherie That is what I was thinking. I stopped getting iPhones when I realized the upgrades were not worth the cost. If they were half the price, I would still be with them. Just too expensive for me.
