The push to veganism and eating insects?

I noticed in some countries, there is a huge push to become vegan with alternative food options that are plant based. I don't know anyone who is a vegan. I know 2 vegetarians. I don't know a single person who enjoys eating bugs though. Why are they trying to push this so much?

I don't have an issue with people choosing this for themselves but when they are trying to push people to eat this way? That is messed up. A lot of cultures eat bugs but it isn't because they choose to, it is because they are poor. Wealthy places choosing this just sounds stupid!

@teresanguyen I was going to say this. I just don't get the insect thing. Like I understand wanting to be a vegetarian or a vegan but eating bugs?

I think it's because they think it's healthier.

I know that in some countries, they are pushing to make all food vegan. And I've heard a lot of people say that they feel better when they eat vegan, but I don't know if that's true or not. Some people say it is, some say it isn't. So I guess we'll have to wait and see!

@justachad I think a plant-based diet is fine but you do need some level of protein. I guess this is where the bugs come in? I am not sure. It just all seems strange considering the people pushing these diet changes are all billionaires who have no plans of giving up steak.

I think people eat too much meat but I don't think the answer is forcing people to be vegan or eat bugs. I think cutting back on meat consumption is the best approach.
