What are some good free games you would recommend?  

Apex Legends, Warframe, and Rocket League to name a few. What kinds of games does your friend like in terms of online multiplayer?

Warframe

This is probably the best free game you can download and play. It was the first PC game I played online and I loved it. It gets repetitive but you don't need to spend money to be good. 

Paladins is a fun shooter game. It is a more relaxed but fun style one. Kind of like if Apex was a standard shooter with team death match. 

I don't play very many games but I heard Rocket League is a lot of fun, same with Fall Guys. I believe that is free for console players.

There are a few games like Super Smash Bros that are free. One is Brawlhala I think it is called and the other I can't remember but it just came out last month. 

If you are just looking for a simple casual game (or rather your friend is) then Fall Guys is probably the best option. Very easy to pick up and play and people of all ages enjoy it.
