When you are on a trip, do you eat more or less/follow a diet?

A friend of mine is going on a trip to Italy in April. She had managed to lose a lot of weight since the lockdowns and is worried she will put some of it back on when she goes to Italy. Her and her family are visiting family there so they will be staying for 5 weeks. She just reached her goal this month. I told her she will be so active, even if she does eat more it won't cause weight gain. I mean I know I eat more when I am on a trip but I am also more active.

I tend to eat less but eat more often. I think I actually end up losing weight. I think in the US, the food is so calorie dense that people don't realize how much more food they can eat in other countries and end up losing weight. I don't think she has to worry. Italians are very choosy about their foods.

I don't really worry about it when I am on a trip as I have never had an issue with gaining weight from one. I know of two trips where I actually lost weight. I think this was from walking around so much and spending a lot of time in the sun.

I will be mindful of what I am eating as I tend to eat more on vacations and trips. I will usually allow myself to have a day or two where I just enjoy as much food as I can but the rest of the trip, I eat in moderation.

I enjoy myself. I don't worry about overeating. As others have mentioned, I am more active on my trips so it tends to balance itself out. I have had friends from other countries go to some places though and gain weight. Vietnam was never one of them.

I seldom overeat in general. I stop before I am full. So it has never been an issue for me but I find that I tend to lose weight when I go to other countries. Likely because where I live, the food is too high in calories to begin with!
