I want to get a pure breed. I have never owned one and I finally am able to afford one. I have been saving!
I can spend as much as $1300 but I would prefer to stay under $800 so I have enough money for vet costs and new items for the kitten.
What are some really good cat breeds that are affectionate?
There are so many breeds... I am really not sure what to suggest. I would say if you want a smart yet affectionate cat, I would go with a Ragdoll or a Siamese cat. Both are very vocal though so you have to be okay with a chatty cat.
@nomnomnom I agree! Of all the breeds, these two seem to offer the most cuddles and are both very smart but not so smart that you have to worry about them getting bored and becoming destructive.
If you must go with a pure breed ( I always recommend mixes cause so many cats need homes! ) I would go with something that is more social but relaxed. Are you looking for a house cat or a cat that you can take out with you on a lead?
Abyssinians are really cool cats. I am not sure how much they are. They might be over what you are planning on spending. It seems like that breed is not popular in some areas too so you might have a hard time finding a breeder.
I don't know, maybe it is just me but I feel like adopting an adult cat from a shelter is better. I get wanting a pure breed but so many cats out there have no homes. I feel bad for them :(
I have always thought Maine Coons were one of the best breeds but that is only if you want a big cat. I think most are over 20 pounds in weight. Males can get over 30!
They are considered gentle giants!
