I just saw some amazing pictures of Cat Ba Island on Instagram! Too funny. That place looks incredible and is for sure a place I need to see in person someday.

I have never been here but I have heard it has some really cool spots. It seems to be a place where a lot of younger visitors go to as well. I am not as young as I once was but I think I could blend in! haha

Hai Phong gets a bad rep for its past being the gangster capital But that was back in the days. Don't let that scare you away! Now Hai Phong is a great city to visit. The food is amazing, the activities are fun and there's plenty to see and do.

@thanggalang I was going to mention this. I have heard about this and it was one of the reasons that I had not visited. Even my family is still convinced it is not safe. I will have to check it out on my next trip!

Well, hold on to your hats, my amigo, Hai Phong has come a snazzy way since its gangster days! It's now a jazzy city with lots to offer. The food scene is a must-try, with scrumptious seafood and street food galore. Plus, there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained, like exploring the groovy Cat Ba Island or taking a leisurely boat ride along the stunning Tam Bac River. Rest assured, you won't regret giving Hai Phong a whirl!

This was rated as one of the worst places to visit in Vietnam on a few different travel channels and blogs I follow. I guess this is down to it having a past with gang issues. It is a shame! I would have never thought to go here if I otherwise listened and never found this article.

I'm all for a good day trip. But I'm not sure I'd consider going to Hai Phong for three days.

I understand your preference for day trips, but have you considered the unique seafood restaurants and the vibrant street markets? There's so much more to explore if you stay longer!

Hai Phong is a beautiful city. I visited it in the summer of 2016 and was impressed by the kindness of its people, the beauty of its architecture, and the delicious food. I would recommend that you stay at the Hotel Nikko Hai Phong.
