My family and I are moving to Vietnam in about a month, and it was so helpful to have a list of things to prepare for. Thank you for writing it!

@ElizabethGardner That is amazing! Where are you moving to, like which area? When you have time you should make a thread and show some pictures and experiences.

I moved to Vietnam from the US, and it was a really positive experience for me. The people are so warm and welcoming, the food is amazing (and cheap), and the culture is rich and colorful. I'd highly recommend it!

I always find it sad when you see how living in a city could get you so much in Vietnam and people in the US are willing to spend well over $2,000 a month in rent to live in a hole in the wall and hardly able to afford food when living in a big city.

I have a friend who moved to Vietnam to be an English teacher. He was there for 5 years and moved back home after. He said he loved the experience but he couldn't see himself moving there for good. He goes back every year though because he misses it.

If you ever move, a friend of mine recommended that you move to an area where people are more social. Having gone through it himself, he said the first few years were hard because he felt isolated enough though people were everywhere.
