I'm glad to hear that Vietnam is a relatively affordable country to travel to. There are a variety of transportation options available, so you can find the perfect one for your trip. Tipping is not mandatory, but it's always appreciated. Be aware of scams and transportation fees, so you can make the most of your trip.

-According to research, tourists who stay in the major tourist destinations in Vietnam are more likely to have a negative experience than those who stay in rural areas.
-Travellers should be prepared for scams, such as being asked to pay for a tour that's not actually being offered or being promised discounted rates that aren't actually available.

I did not know tipping was a thing anywhere else until I went to Vietnam.

I was not put off by it having grown up in America. I think it is okay to tip people, especially for service they go above and beyond to provide.

I'm glad you wrote this post, because I was planning on going to Vietnam too and I didn't know where to start. I would definitely recommend reading about the culture and history of Vietnam before you go, and also checking out some of the popular tourist destinations. There are a lot of things to consider when planning a trip like this, so I think it would be helpful to have some advice from someone who's already been there. Thanks for writing!
