Compared to other places around the world with the same island vibes, would you say it is cheaper to stay at Ha Long Bay? I keep seeing people mention how much cheaper luxury stays are in Vietnam compared to other countries.Â
@freshcut based on the prices I have seen, it is a pretty affordable luxury stay but it is still not the kind of trip I would recommend to someone on a tight budget.

I've been to Ha Long Bay, and I think this article is spot-on. I'd add that you should definitely bring a waterproof camera.
I like how many things you can do both in and by water in this location. You really get the most of Vietnam without having to travel far.Â

Does Ha Long Bay have a lot of bugs? I have heard people complaining about it but I never actually looked into it. People tend to complain the most about mosquitoes since they carry disease. I know certain places of Vietnam are worse than others for those nasty buggers.Â
@weenie You will see more issues with them around water, this is true but this is stagnant water. This will be in central Vietnam by rivers, ponds, etc so you do not have to worry so much near the beaches.
I'm so glad I read this before my trip! I would have been so lost without a visa. And the ocean is so scary, I'm glad I know to be aware of the dangers!

You definitely need a visa before going to Vietnam and Ha Long Bay. The ocean can be dangerous if you're not careful.

I recently visited Ha Long Bay in Vietnam and I must say, it was a great experience. The bay is very scenic and there are a lot of interesting things to see and do. I would definitely recommend visiting this place if you're looking for an amazing vacation!
