Swimwear standards are different?

This is something I noticed when in Vietnam at the beach. It seems a lot of what women wear in the USA is considered "trashy" in terms of beachwear/swimwear and they are much more modest in Vietnam. Is this true for all areas?

Yes, Vietnamese are prude people, so, the female swimmers either wear a full bathing suit or even swim with their dress

@Larsay That is not fair to call them prude. They are more respectful of their bodies. Swimwear in the USA is basically like walking around in lingerie at this point. It is completely classless.

There is a growing trend for older more conservative swimwear in the US. I have seen a huge influx of one-piece suits and those older style ones that have short shorts as the bottoms instead of being a panty cut.

Women tend to dress more clothed, yes. Opting for one piece bathing suits and cover ups such as skirts, shorts, or dress slips that you can swim in.

I think this is how many countries are. Just the non-western ones. Some places don't even allow women to wear shorts but rather you have to wear a full body dress to swim in.

@photastic Yeah there are some places that are way more strict by law and I am not sure it is a good thing. In Vietnam it is culture, not law that causes this which is fine.

Yes, it is all over. It is not really a thing to wear minimal clothing while at the beach in Vietnam. They like to be respectful of others and the women do not want that kind of attention, especially not from foreigners.
