What do you think of being a digital nomad in Vietnam?

I think Vietnam is a great place to be a digital nomad. It's affordable and has a lot of different places to stay, as well as things to do. I think it would be a good place for people who are just starting out with their own business or freelancing.

There are also coworking spaces in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang. A great way to network with like-minded people.

The concept of being a digital nomad always intrigued me because I love to travel but I also want a family, a home, and stability. So while it is something I would consider in for a few years right now, it is not something I would do long term.

There are only a few places I would ever do this and Vietnam is absolutely one of them. I would say it is second to only Mexico and the reason I would prefer Mexico is down to the weather and less pests I need to worry about. That and I would still be somewhat close to family so if I had to go home, it wouldn't be a big deal.

I never considered it. It is not really something I would personally enjoy doing. If I were to ever stay in Vietnam extended periods like this, I would just move there and start a home and life for myself.

I personally would love it. I have said that I would love to have a job where I could spend months in Vietnam at a time. I would love to move there some day but I know I would miss my family too much.

I would love to if it were an option. I could easily do it for several years. I have plans but the plans I have are years out so spending time in Vietnam while working would be amazing!

@Larsay Likely has to do with needed to be vaccinated for mosquito bites and what not. You don't need to in Mexico but if you go further south you do. It is a common complaint I heard about Vietnam. I know a friend of mine said she would never go because she is terrified of becoming ill from a bug bite.

Well, I live in Vietnam since October 2007, I have always been amazed of how few mosquitoes there are and of their minuscule size. There is some malaria in the Highlands and in in thick jungles where you do not go anyway, like at the Cambodian border, and that's it. Whomever says the contrary does not know the country or reports hearsay !!!!

@Larsay how do you stay in Vietnam for so long? Do you have Vietnam citizenship or what visa are you on?
