I have never been to Mai Chau but it sounds lovely! I will have to research the area more. How close is it to Hanoi?

These are great tips. I think the most important thing is to allow yourself to make mistakes. I think people often try to plan the perfect trip and if they mess up one thing, they let it ruin the rest of the trip for them.

Mai Chau is perfect for people who want to relax more and enjoy nature, that is for sure. I have not had much time to spend in this area but I hope to include it in a future trip.

A friend of mine has family in Mai Chau and she only gets to see them every few years. I am planning on going with her and her family to see their extended family next year. I am so excited!

I think most people would rather flock to a city and be comfortable and familiar which is fine but you miss out on so much culture in Vietnam when you do this.

@haitay I agree. I think the first trip makes sense to stay in a city where you are more likely to find help and be able to see more in less time but you need to venture out once you are comfortable enough!

I really like the idea of using a weekend getaway to get out of your comfort zone and try something new. I think it’s a great way to stretch yourself and push yourself to do things that you would normally shy away from. The Mai Chau route has got me drooling!
