I want to make a beef stew for some family coming for a visit. They will be here next weekend. I want to get everything I need this weekend and have it all ready to go. Does anyone have a really good recipe that is easy? I have never made beef stew before!

I basically do this one:

I just change a few things. I don't use the wine. I just do 3 cups of beef broth instead and I also add in soy, rosemary, and extra carrots.

You can take a base for a stew recipe and make it your own, too. I have done this several times. Just find seasonings and ingredients you enjoy.

I'd have to look up my recipe. I don't make it very often. It was my aunt's recipe. I know it has the basic stuff in it but I would need to check the seasons and spices.

Stew is really easy to make. You can just use a beef broth with a bit of tomato paste for your base and then add to it. Beef, carrots, garlic, onions, potatoes, peas and then do what seasonings you like.

What did you end up making?

I recently make some soup and winged it. It came out really nice. I think you can just get the core ingredients you want and then play around with it. Just don't overdue it on the herbs. I did that ones in a stew and it was terrible!

I don't really have one. I don't eat stew all that often. When I do, it is usually the one my grandparents make and that is maybe once or twice a year. It would probably be more fun to make your own.
