Hanoi has so much going for it. I love this city! I have stayed in the Crowne Plaza West Hanoi for 3 days. Had I stayed in a luxury hotel elsewhere, I would have been spending 3 or 4 times the amount!

I've been to Hanoi a few times and these hotels are definitely a step up from the standard tourist options. I'm looking forward to trying them out!

For me, the best deluxe hotel in Hanoi is the APRICOT for several reasons ; it is the ONLY one on Lake Hoan Kiem; it belongs to the owners of the Apricot Painting Gallery, the most famous in Vietnam, so it exhibits over 250 works of art in its lobby and corridors; it has a roof-top pool with a greae view of the city and, for it extreme quality, it is not expensive.

On another side the Metropole is a rip-off : very small lower-priced rooms, everything is atrociously expensive ( 80 000 VND - 3$ for a beer and over 350$ for a room big like a closet) and, worse, when they KNOW that people arrive mostly by plane early in the morning (generally 6:30), they charge you double if you check in before noon ; the 350$ room becomes 700 !!! They claim that they have to keep your room empty the day before to secure it when you arrive, which is a big lie because they are never full !!!!

I forgot to mention n that, apart rom the fact that only big modern hotels with no charm whatsoever fpr the most listed, but the Sheraton is certainly NOT "in the city centre"; it is in the middle of nowhere alongside the south of the West Lake, with NOTHING interesting around. (Movenpick also !). They are business hotels and many of them hotels for groups. . In the city CENTER, th bet is the Apricot as I rote also, followed by the Metropole if you like to throw money through the woindow as we say in France

I have yet to stay in a luxury hotel anywhere but comparing prices, it seems like I may just be able to afford it in Hanoi. Even if it is only for a few days. Would be fund to experience it!

I love the Hanoi area! I've been there a few times, and it's always great to see how this city has grown. The architecture is so interesting, and it has a sort of relaxed atmosphere that I really like. I hope to visit again soon!

I always hear about the hotels gives you the most for your money in Hanoi but I have to wonder  if prices will change. It seems more and more people are visiting or even moving to Vietnam. Do you think prices will increase for luxury hotels as time goes on?

Since I am planning for my third trip to Hanoi, I am going to be looking into the prices of these hotels and see if I can manage to stay at one during my trip. I would love to just have one weekend in a luxury hotel!

I know a lot of these luxury hotels can be found in other places in the world. I am wondering if the ones that are branded and found all over, if they differ in Vietnam vs, let's say America?
