As much as I love street food, I am very picky about where I get it from. I think for most people who are not well traveled, avoiding street food is your best bet. I have heard of people getting stomach trouble so many times from it.

I agree with your point that it's important to stay healthy while traveling, but I'd also like to point out that there are a lot of things that you can do to prevent illness and stay healthy while traveling, even if you're not in Vietnam.

I think it is important to stay healthy while traveling in Vietnam. I have been there and I got sick from the street food, but luckily there is a pharmacy on every street corner.

New food always comes with a risk, even if it is handled properly. There are things our bodies might just not be used to and it can create issues. If you want to try street food, just do it in very small sample sizes and have a plan if you end up with a stomach ache.

Just be mindful. Don't eat things you are not familiar with. Wash your hands. Make use of bug spray. Everything is fairly straightforward!

I think you have to worry more about bug bites than bad food, but that is just me!

I will say though that if you have any sort of food sensitivities, just stick to restaurants where they have to cook to a standard.
