Vietnam is centrally located in Southeast Asia, making it easy to get to from almost anywhere in the region. In addition, once you’re in Vietnam, it’s extremely affordable to travel to other countries in the area. For example, a flight from Hanoi to Bangkok is less than $100, and a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap (in Cambodia) is less than $40. You can also take an overnight bus from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to Luang Prabang (in Laos) for less than $30.
One of the best things about traveling through Asia is that the distances between countries are relatively short, which means you can easily visit multiple destinations in a relatively short amount of time. For example, the flight time from Hanoi to Bangkok is just over two hours, the flight time from Ho Chi Minh City to Singapore is just over four hours, the flight time from Hanoi to Tokyo is around five and a half hours and the flight time from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap is just over three hours. Besides being strategically located for easy travel to other countries in Asia, Vietnam also has plenty of amazing destinations within the country itself. From serene beaches to bustling cities to fascinating historical sites, there’s something here for everyone.

If you’re looking to explore more of Southeast Asia, consider taking a bus from Vietnam to neighboring countries like Laos, Cambodia or Thailand. Buses are a very affordable way to travel, and you can find buses that go to most major destinations in the region. For example, there are overnight buses from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Luang Prabang (in Laos), Siem Reap (in Cambodia) and Bangkok (in Thailand). The journey time is usually around 10-12 hours, and the cost is typically around $30-$40. So why not visit a few different countries on your next trip?

I agree with you. I’d say that using Vietnam as a hub makes sense because it’s the closest country to several countries in the region and can make it easier to get around. If you look at where Vietnam is, it’s basically in the center of Asia: Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar is west of Vietnam, China is north, Japan/Korea/Taiwan is northeast, Philippines is east, Malaysia/Indonesia is to the Southeast, Singapore is to the southwest. Very convenient and prices for flights are cheap.
